118 Million in support funding disingenuous statement?

Based on our poll it appears about half those polled believed the 118 Million would be new funding for family doctors to help with overhead.….and we did at first, too. As we gathered more information and as Doctors received their statement of pay out it became very apparent that all this funding would not be "new money". It's worth mentioning that we are not stuck on the dollar amounts but WE REALLY DON’T LIKE it when the government makes disingenuous statements.

What the government and Minister Dix failed to highlight for us was that the 47 million that would come from GPSC wasn't all new money. About 2/3 of the 47 million (according to statements we have seen) is money doctors earned from working and would have received in January in any case.

The government should have said: Approximately 30 million dollars of the 118 million is money we would have paid to Doctors in January but we will now pay sooner, in October.

Why should this matter to you?

It matters because the government led many of us to believe that an additional 30 million dollars (approximately) of tax payers’ money was going to support our family doctor clinics, and that is simply not true. The government must be transparent if they are to regain our trust. Actions like this indicate they continue to care more about their image than addressing the actual crisis.

We must hold this government to be accountable and transparent.
