LifeLab Appointment Waits

**Timely Access to Lab Tests and Results is Critical**

For those managing medication efficacy or levels, new diagnoses, undiagnosed issues or worsening conditions, getting timely blood work and results is pivotal. While some locations offer walk-in options, this isn't always practical for people who: - Work full-time - Care for others - Have mobility challenges - Have Disabilities - Depend on public transit or Handi-Dart.

We encourage checking the LifeLabs website regularly for cancellations, which may provide earlier appointment options. However, it’s important to recognize the barriers many face in navigating the system.

Assuming everyone can hunt for walk-in spots or last minute cancelations ignores the affordability crisis many are living through—where prioritizing health might mean choosing between healthcare and putting food on the table. It also overlooks the unique challenges faced by caregivers, those with mobility issues, and others with limited flexibility.

Our system is failing us. While workarounds can help in the short term, they are *not* the solution. We need diverse service delivery options to prevent a dangerous overreliance on Health Authority labs. Equity and accessibility in healthcare depend on having multiple pathways for care. Let’s work together to advocate for a system that serves everyone. #HealthEquity #LabAccess #HealthcareMatters #BCHealthCareMatters
