TO:  Honorable Adrian Dix – Health Minister of BC                  Via email: HLTH.Minister@gov.bc.ca

Honorable David Eby – Premier of British Columbia                          premier@gov.bc.ca

Dear Honorable Adrian Dix and Honorable David Eby,

I write to you today concerning the ABSENCE OF MEDICAL CARE in Nanaimo Regional Hospital. Patients are being admitted from the ER but warned they may not have a hospitalist looking after them while inside. They might just have nursing care which means no ESSENTIAL prescription medication NOR NEW TESTS can be ordered.

Of course, you realize how great the danger is with this situation, not just from the patient’s perspective but also from a medico-legal one. Hospitals have been sued for less.

This issue has been made public in the media and cannot be swept under the rug. People want to know what the ministry is going to do and when it will start to rectify this impending disaster.

I would appreciate meeting with you in person or virtually to discuss this further. Given this life-threatening situation, I am requesting a response within ten days from the date of this letter.

It is unfortunate that so much of BC Health Care Matters' advocacy is met with resistance or ignored by ministry of health officials. We feel that our input to decision-making bodies could be constructive as well as being viewed positively by BC voters.  After all, we share the common goal of providing adequate, quality care to all of our residents.

Yours truly,

 Mrs. Camille Currie

President
