Teen Waits Three Years for Specialist Appointment

At 14 Aya was a healthy young teen playing sports at a high level. In 2020 she began having trouble digesting any food and started to lose weight. Her family doctor referred her to BC Children’s Hospital. The appointment finally came, three years later. As her illness is a chronic condition, she has missed out on three years of treatment.
